2020 Upper Flint River Overnight Paddle

Description

*Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we have allowed the participants from our canceled Spring 2020 trip to join this one instead. This will cause space on this trip to be extremely limited. Thank you for your understanding.

Join the Georgia Conservancy for a weekend paddle and riverside campout on the beautiful upper Flint River between Molena, Georgia, and Sprewell Bluff Park.

Paddlers will join us on Saturday morning near Molena, Georgia to begin a two-day paddling journey on one of Georgia’s most strikingly beautiful sections of the river. Participants will experience mountainous surroundings on the wide, shoal-laced Flint River as it cuts its way through the Fall Line.

This is a pack-in canoe camping trip, as participants will camp along the river after Saturday’s 8-mile paddle, before returning to the water for roughly 6 miles on Sunday morning. We will exit the river at Upson County’s Sprewell Bluff Park.

Please reach out to Stewardship Trips Director Clark Harrison at charrison@gaconservancy.org for additional details.

In-kind donors and local food producers we will be enjoying during our weekend: Sweetwater Brewing Company (Atlanta), ASW Distillery (Atlanta), and Cafe Campesino Coffee (Americus).

Join us on a Georgia Conservancy Stewardship Trip to learn more about important location-specific conservation issues, as well as statewide advocacy opportunities. Our goal is simple: Create a connection between some of Georgia’s most precious places and the people needed to protect them.
